Healing with online EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based therapy proven to provide relief and help people recover from distressing experiences.

EMDR follows a protocol that involves bringing to mind a memory or experience, while simultaneously doing sets of repetitive back and forth movements in the form of visual eye movements, tactile self-tapping or hand-held buzzers, and/or auditory sounds.

Personalized, just for you.

EMDR is a structured and customizable therapy that is used to change the way past experiences are stored in the brain.

After EMDR however, the memories will become far less upsetting. EMDR also allows us to connect with more positive beliefs about ourselves and/or the world. In doing so, shame and other difficulties related to past experiences are much less intense, if not resolved completely.

I offer EMDR in 50 minute sessions or intensive sessions ranging from 2-4 hours.

Introducing online EMDR

The first video is me saying hello and sharing what you will see when we meet during our video sessions.

At the core of EMDR is what is called Bilateral Stimulation (BLS). BLS can be visual, auditory or tactile (tapping).

The next two videos are samples of visual and auditory BLS. The settings are customizable with over a hundred visual and auditory choices. If you don’t like the visual BLS you can choose tapping with or without sounds instead.

Here are some things EMDR can be helpful with.

Relationship issues

Imposter Syndrome

Grief and Loss

Perfectionism

Depression

Guilt

Low confidence

Difficulty saying no

Parenting

Excessive worry

Trauma

Cravings/Urges

Disordered Eating

How does it work?

First we talk in a free 20 minute phone call or video session

In our first sessions I get to hear from you about your story, life and experiences. We will identify your needs and goals.

Preparation sessions are where you learn more about EMDR and practice using doing the tapping or eye movements. The number of preparation sessions varies per the individual, but is typically 1-5 sessions.

Reprocessing - The reprocessing phase is where the majority of the healing takes place and may last 2 or more sessions depending on your goals.

Adjunct EMDR

A brief & focused therapy with Kate, while keeping your primary therapist

Adjunct EMDR is a short-term therapy supplement that may be a good option if you already have a therapist you like but they don’t do EMDR and…

You have a stuck point or have reached a plateau that could be shifted with EMDR.

You don’t want to replay the past each weekly session but would be willing to address it briefly.

You are working on separate goals with your primary therapist and want to address another issue simultaneously

Intensive EMDR

An alternative to weekly sessions.

Sessions are longer, and/or scheduled for multiple days in a row.

Intensives allow the time to go deeper to resolve things with less repetition from week to week.

Consider Intensive EMDR if:

You are looking for a short-term therapy option

Your schedule won’t permit ongoing, weekly sessions right now.

You are ok with a higher up front cost, knowing the sum is less overall than weekly therapy.

You want expedited change. Get relief weeks or months sooner.

You want the flexibility of doing therapy on a weekend.
